What I'm all about
I've always (really, always) loved cars. The only problem is I have the attention span of a 2 year old at Christmas. I bought a 1964 Chevy Shortbed Truck with a smallblock 283 and a 4bbl carb in it when I was 15 I think and worked on it for a couple weeks and lost interest, so I sold it to my dad when I ran out of money and kept driving my dads old 1987 Ford F150.
Next came my 1975 Opel Manta. My parents bought this little junkie looking Orange car for my sister, who didnt like it, so I bought it from them, for only 1,200 (what we got it for from the ppl down the road) It had been stored for the last 15 years, ran, and had very little rust. I traded my 4-wheeler to a guy in town who painted cars and pretty soon had the Orange w/Blue ralleye stripes combo you can see in the gallery. It's been awesome having a car that everyone turns and looks at while thinking "what the..." After I got that orange Manta all fixed up I got to looking at other Opels and fell in love with the Opel GT.
I looked on ebay for a while and picked up a 1973 Opel gt a car dealer was selling for an old guy. They wanted 3500 for it and I bargained them down to 2500, unfortunatly I didnt know much about cars at that point and all I saw was that it kinda ran (same as my Manta had, and a tuneup fixed that perfectly) and looked OK cosmetically (same as manta again, which turned out great) so i bought it and had my dad bring me back to drive it home. About 30 miles down the highway it blew the head gasket, joy. Got to tow the sucker for 3 hours to get it home. Now I started working on it this year and realized it was sure a piece, and 2500 was more of a ripoff than I ever imaged. Oh well, Live and Learn!
My next venture was a heck of a deal, I bought a 1946 Ford 2 Door Sedan (in Gallery) for 1500 dollars from a guy who had way way too many cars and was just storing them. The body is in surprisingly good shape, minimal rust, but the interior looks like a family of racoons made it their home. That is going to be a real interesting project, I'm planning on halfway turning it into a hotrod.
That's it for the classic cars I currently own, however, my dad just told me that I have a very good chance of getting my dream car from the same guy that sold me the Ford this summer, and I have first dibs on it when he sells it! A black 1964 1/2 Mustang! I'm really excited and if I get that I'm finishing my Opel GT and getting that sucker underway.
Other than that I'm a pretty normal guy, I love working on my cars, especially since I live with my brother now and we both enjoy spending our free time in the garage yelling at each other and trying to accomplish somthing productive. it's lots of fun.
And perhaps the one thing that most describes my life...

And one more thing, no, we don't keep all of our cars original, we make them however we think we will like them best, if you are someone that is concerned only with the "pure" original restoring projects, I don't know that I'd bother looking here.
